Sgt. Donald P. Bohanner

MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO, Va — Sgt. Donald P. Bohanner was born in Memphis, Tenn., but grew up in Ann Arbor, Mich. After attending college for a year he decided to enlist because he was "searching for something more rewarding out of life," the 25-year-old said. He joined the Marine Corps May 24, 1999, as a combat videographer.

He made the switch from videographer to combat correspondent in 2003 and enjoys his job. ŅI get to tell the world our story," he said.

He is currently the press chief for the MCB Quantico newspaper, The Sentry. Past assignments include a stint at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, S.C., and a seven-month deployment to Iraq.

He recently wrote a three-part series about changes at the Personnel Support Management Branch, which has been condensed for this issue of Marines.

"In the three-part series I learned a lot about the OMPF and fitness reports, the key was debunking many of the myths about fitness reports."
