The designers of MREs might think they’re meals-ready-to-eat, but Marines knows better. In the field Marines mix and match ingredients from the various MREs for dishes with some surprisingly tasty results. The recipe for this concoction was submitted to www.marines.mil.

Pork/Beef Patty Goulash

Ingredients:

  1. 1 – Pork/Beef patty
  2. 1 – Cracker package
  3. 1 – Cheese package
  4. 1 – Bottle of Tabasco Sauce
  5. 1 – Package of salt

Directions:

  1. 1. Cut MRE package in half and fold down top two times to make a stiff rim.
  2. 2. Place beef/pork patty in package with proper amount of hot water until soft.
  3. 3. Add cheese package and cracker with patty and mix. (Add more hot water if necessary)
  4. 4. Add Tabasco sauce, salt to taste and enjoy.
