The Marine reserve sitein Chicopee, Mass., is composed of two units, Marine Air Support Squadron 6 and Marine Wing Support Squadron 472 Detachment Bravo. The unit has a mix of active duty and reserve Marines that drill at the site.
The Marine reserve site of Chicopee, Mass., includes two units, Marine Air Support Squadron 6 and Marine Wing Support Squadron 472 Detachment Bravo. Nestled in the southern portion of the state, the units are composed of active and reserve Marines. Recent deployments and exercises, Operation Iraqi Freedom and New Horizons 2006, have included Marines from the both units.
Marine Air Support Squadron 6
Command Marine Air Control Group 48, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing
MASS-6 provides the Direct Air Support Center (DASC) for the Marine Forces Reserve.

Mission MASS 6 coordinates the DASC to provide control and coordination of aircraft operating in direct support of Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF) Operations.
Marine Wing Support Squadron 472 Detachment Bravo
- Command Marine Wing Support Group 47, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing
MWSS 472 Det B serves as the squadron’s primary engineer services site.

Mission MWSS 472 provides all essential Aviation Ground Support to the rotary-wing components of the Marine Aviation Combat Element (ACE) and all supporting attached elements of the Marine Air Control Group.
CHICOPEE, Mass. Marines from the reserve site performs funeral service ceremonies for Marine veterans in the surrounding area. As representatives for their district in Massachusetts, the unit also conducts ceremonies for Memorial Day and July 4th.
