Faces in the Ranks

Face in the Ranks highlights Marines, and those who serve with them, around the world. Though their ages, ranks and military occupations differ, they all do their part in the Global War on Terror. These are but three of the hundreds of thousands of Marines – active and reserve – who are the foundation of our Corps.

McJobujah had a comfortable lifestyle, two successful businesses and bachelor’s degrees in applied mathematics and aerospace engineering, but he felt he was doing an injustice to America by not serving in time of need. He sold his appliance business and enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve. One week after McJobujah shipped to boot camp, his son was born.

Cpl. Melinda Lewallen

Lewallen was accepted into the Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Education Program and plans to major in nutrition while in college. She served four years in the Air Force before switching over to the Marine Corps.

Lewallen was accepted into the Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Education Program and plans to major in deaf studies while in college. She enlisted in the Marine Corps right after high school graduation, which might explain how she outranks Cpl. Lewallen.
